The bat’s head pod, colloquially called a bat’s head root, is the seed pod of a relative of the Devil’s Claw plant, and gets its name for its resemblance to the head and pointed ears of a bat.

The pods are a popular curio in various folk magical traditions and are often worked for obtaining wishes and gaining power. They may be dressed with oil, wished upon and buried in the front yard, carried in a conjure bag, or kept upon the altar.
